World's Largest Ant Nest

Check out this amazing video the world's largest ants nest. Back in 2002, Swiss, French and Danish scientist discovered the largest cooperative unit of ants ever recorded in history. The ant colony is 3,600 miles long, stretching from the Italian Riviera to northwest Spain. Billions of Argentine ants call this colony home. The most unique part about this colony of ants is that there is more than one nest with different queens all working together and not fighting like other nests would normally do.

Richard D. Fell an entomologist at Virginia Polytechnic Institute stated that Argentine has been known to form large colonies but none as large as this find.

"It may be that certain ant colonies will bud off, form satellites and remain connected with one main colony," suggested Fell.

What is a FIGJAM?

I came across the phrase "he is such a figjam" today. Naturally I asked the question, WTF is a figjam, and this is what I was told. A figjam is an acronym standing for "Fuck I'm Good, Just Ask Me". You learn something everyday! I'm not sure if this applies to women, I guess it could but here we are just looking at male Figjams. In the world of sport, 'Figjam' is used for ultra cocky, arrogant, cool, confident sportsmen who are good...and know it. It is used as a nickname for golfer Phil Mickelson on the PGA Tour and also the term used by the Australian Cricket side as a nickname for the England cricket batsman Kevin Pietersen.

Wingsuit Flying

Cool videos of wingsuit flying. Wingsuit flying is the newest, coolest frontier in skydiving right now. This was all made possible only a few years back by a guy named Patrick de Gayardon from France. Patrick was a true innovator in the sport, always one step ahead of everybody else. The wing suit was his own creation. He put endless hours of wind tunnel time on a prototype suit before he took to the sky with these wings. Patrick brought the wing suit to where it is today - an efficient flying wing with an airfoil that can be customized in flight by the human body.

Wingsuit flying is the art of flying the human body through t

he air using a special jumpsuit, called a wingsuit, that shapes the human body into an airfoil which can create lift. The wingsuit creates the airfoil shape with fabric sewn between the legs and under the arms. It is also called a birdman suit or squirrel suit.

A wingsuit can be flown from any point that provides sufficient altitude to glide through the air, such as skydiving aircraft or BASE jumping exit points. The wingsuit flier wears parachute equipment designed for skydiving or BASE jumping. The flier will deploy the parachute at a planned altitude and unzip the arm wings, if necessary, so they can reach up to the control toggles and fly to a normal parachute landing.
