7 Cool Videos of Michael Jackson

Seven cool videos paying homage to Michael Jackson. He will be missed.

James Brown Tribute
It only cements the fact that the dude - for all his foibles - was a legend.

Moonwalk...how cool is that still today!
Holy shit. This is insane - inspiring countless leagues of white people out there to try themselves to scoot backwards from one side of the living room rug to the other. The Moonwalk was hardly a “new move”; indeed, it had its roots in vaudeville(!). But nobody could do it like Michael.

Eddy Murphy on Michael Jackson
This video is great.

Brit Awards 1996

One of my favorite memories of Michael Jackosn was the 1996 Brit Awards when Jarvis Cocker came on stage in the middle of the Earth Song performance. If you forgot or never seen it, here it is...

Man In The Mirror - Live at 1988 Grammy Awards.
Arguably his best “song”, so to speak, this never got the attention it deftly deserves. It was Michael’s equivalent of “In The Ghetto”, and by far one of his most heartfelt songs. I guess it’d be good to remind ourselves of the positive energy the guy had; “Man In The Mirror” was his peak professionaly, before all the court cases, basically the height of his career, in hindsight. So sit back and enjoy.

Ben
Ben was a song about his pet rat (aptly named - you guessed it - Ben). I’m not saying the song is a classic - it’s a song about a fucking rat, for Pete’s sake. But keep in mind that Michael is barely 10 years old at this point and singing some serious Sam Cooke stuff. Could you do that at 10? No.

The Pepsi Commercial
Were you concious as a human in the late 1980’s you’d remember the veritable cauldron of buzz surrounding this commercial. While filming, Michael caught on fire. AND DANCED THE FIRE OFF OF HIM. That, in and of itself, is fucking incredible. The guy spun around and whipped the fire right off of him. Here’s the commercial in its broadcast form, doing more buzz for Pepsi than they could have ever asked for, and doing more for the legend of Michael Jackson than anyone could have ever asked for.

I grew up listening to his cool music and was the first album I bought. I remember us kids trying to moon walk in school discos. I don't know many people in their early 30's who haven't got the Bad album. If he wasn't already a legend, he will surely be a legend now. RIP Michael Jackson.

The game will consist of 45 songs by and virtual depictions of The Beatles, from their first album, Please Please Me, to their last recorded album, Abbey Road. Future downloadable content for the game will feature additional songs and full albums from The Beatles, such as the whole of Abbey Road shortly after the game's release on PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii.

The game will be shipped as a bundle with themed instrument controllers and as a standalone game for which all existing Rock Band and compatible music game accessories can be used. The game will incorporate many of the gameplay features of the Rock Band series; however, the game will not be an expansion pack for the Rock Band series, and content for it and other Rock Band titles will not be cross-compatible.

Coming next week...the coolest collection of wallpapers for your iPhone.

Cool Apple App Wall

Check out these cool pictures and video of an Apple App Wall from Apple’s WWDC event in San Francisco using cinema display monitors mounted together.

Today at Apple’s WWDC event in San Francisco, Apple had a bunch of Cinema Display monitors mounted together on a wall showing what looked to be some sort of pulsating canvas. But a closer look revealed that it was actually a huge collection of icons for many of the apps available in the App Store, arranged by color. Apparently, when someone purchased one, that app’s icon would pulsate, creating the effect.

Check out the video!

While it wasn’t quite real-time, nor was it entirely representative of all the more than 50,000 apps in the App Store, the visualization was pretty damn cool. Prettier than the Google Holodeck and it gave off less heat. Not surprisingly, onlookers were mesmerized by the pulsating apps.

Cool Superbike with iPhone Dashboard

Check out this cool Superbike with iPhone dashboard. Apple fans might still be drooling from yesterday’s iPhone 3Gs announcement, but I bet they never saw this coming: an electric superbike with an iPhone for all its instrumentation! Cool!

The MotoCzysz E1pc is one of the many entries in the TTXGP race this Friday. How the iPhone is integrated into the bike is still a mystery but features like its native GPS will surely be used. And whether it wins or loses, it definitely gets points for creamy white geeky goodness.

The E1pc can go from zero to 120 mph in “seven or eight seconds” according to Michael Czysz, the company’s founder. It uses ten lithium-ion battery packs with three electric motors all mounted on a carbon fiber main frame.

Here’s a video of its test run:

Czysz explains, “With teams from around the world ascending on the Isle, this is a true international competition and even though the machines are futuristic the race is not and the premise even less so- this is an old fashion ‘run what you brung’ race. Never would my Grand Father or even my Father imagined such a motorcycle would ever exist, even I would have doubted this event possible in 2009 only a few years ago.”

The TTXGP is a zero-emissions motorcycle race taking place on the famed Isle of Man Mountain Course. Some of the teams include Mission Motors, Brammo, EVOdesign and of course MotoCzysz. Other entrants include Barefoot Motors, Electric Motorsport and one of my favorites…KillaCycle Racing. Teams from the United States, United Kingdom, India, Austria, Germany and Italy all plan to compete.

TTXGP founder, Azhar Hussain, said, “With twenty-four confirmed entries, we are thrilled with the high level of interest the TTXGP has generated globally, and the superb quality of teams that will be involved.”
