Cool Fashion App - BrandAlley Fashion iWall

Brand Alley are launching a cool new fashion iPhone app tomorrow to allow members to browse and shop its collection whenever and wherever they are. The app will be compatible not only with the iPhone but also the iPod Touch, iPad and iPad2. Called BrandAlley Fashion iWall - it's for chic bargain hunting on the go. To coincide with the launch, they’ve just released the Fashion iWall on YouTube:

The video shows a girl stood behind the “i-wall”, which is made up of iPads and iPhones, and sees her look transformed several times across the shopping categories available on BrandAlley; fashion, beauty, home and travel.

The video and App are part of BrandAlley’s strategy to engage with all social media channels and reinforce its broadening offer, now including fashion, lingerie, accessories and homeware with designer brands offered at up to 70% off.

The BrandAlley App and Fashion iWall video will exclusively launch to its members tomorrow (30th March 2011) on www.brandalley.co.uk

Makes Grown Men Cry
Tom Hanks and Tim Allen both confessed to crying at the part of Jessie's flashback sequence that shows her being rejected and abandoned by her owner. The video is set to the beautiful song “When She Loved Me” by Sarah McLachlan.

A Technology First
The original Toy Story is the first ever fully computer-generated full-length feature film.

Toy Story 1 was completed on a $30 million budget using a staff of 110. The movie to date had grossed $360 million. In comparison, The Lion King, released in 1994, required a budget of $45 million and a staff of 800.

Voice of Woody
For the original Toy Story, Tom Hanks recorded his dialog during the breaks of Sleepless in Seattle (1993) and A League of Their Own (1992). He didn't want to record his dialog during the breaks of Philadelphia (1993) or Forrest Gump (1994) because he felt he shouldn't do comedic roles in between minutes of playing serious roles.

The Pizza Planet delivery truck, which has appeared in every Pixar film except The Incredibles, also appeared in all three Toy Story films.

On another note about Pizza Planet - Pizza Planet was originally supposed to be called Pizza Putt, a combination pizzeria/mini-golf course.

Character of Woody
Pixar presented an early draft of the film to Disney on November 19, 1993. The result was disastrous. The film was deemed unwatchable. It presented Woody as a “sarcastic jerk” who was constantly insulting the other toys.

Disney immediately shut down production pending a new script. The story team spent a week on a new script to make Woody a more likable character, instead of the “sarcastic jerk” he had been.

Andy's Bookcase
Many of the books on a shelf in Andy's room are the names of Pixar short films (Adventures of Andre and Wally B, Knick Knack, etc.) and some writers of this book was named by Pixar staff.

Woody's Girlfriend
Little Bo Peep was originally supposed to be a Barbie doll.

Andy originates from?
The character of Andy is named for Andries “Andy” Van Dam, a Brown University Professor and computer science and animation pioneer who taught many of makers of this film.

How about this for a cool shop front! This guitar shop looks like a Fender Guitar Amp from the front with it's security gates up. Probably the only shop in the world which looks cool when security gates!

Brocken Spectre - Cool Rare Photo

This is a very rare optic sight indeed! This cool picture is of the phenomenon know as “Brocken spectre” which occurs when a person stands at a higher altitude in the mountains and sees his shadow cast on a cloud at a lower altitude.

As cool iPhone chargers go, this iPhone Umbilical Cord Charger is up there with the best of them! One end plugs into a power socket while the other flares out like and almost like ugly alien’s head that looks as if it is eating its iPhone prey. Adding to its lifelike look, the cord pulses and jerks about, moving the Apple gadget along as though it is trying to escape.

As cool hotel rooms go, this underwater room has to be one of the coolest in the world. If you ever wanted to sleep 20ft below the waves of the Indian Ocean, surrounded by a vibrant coral reef and encased in clear glass then this is the place for you. This suite is located at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island and it’s normally a restaurant (Ithaa Undersea Restaurant). In honor of their 50th anniversary, the Conrad is allowing the restaurant to be converted into a suite but for a price. Depending on the day, it’ll cost you between $10,000 to $15,000 per night to stay in this awesome room. Not sure you would be able to sleep though. Would also be tempting to take in a water pistol and squirt the ceiling so it dripped water on your partner in the middle of the night. That would freak them out! Anyway...here is the amazing Conrad Maldives Rangali Island suite:

Many of their most notable pieces are made from piles of rubbish, with light projected against them to create a shadow image entirely different to that seen when looking directly at the deliberately disguised pile.

Green River Dye - St Patrick's Day Tradition

Today is St Patrick's Day and one of the coolest traditions on Saint Patrick's Day is found in Chicago who dye the river green to celebrate the day. Why? Well sometime in the 19th century, as St. Patrick's Day parades were flourishing, wearing the color green became a show of commitment to Ireland. In 1962 the show of solidarity took a spectacular turn in Chicago when the city decided to dye a portion of the Chicago River green. The tradition started when parade organizer Steve Bailey, head of a plumbers' union, noticed how a dye used to trace possible sources of river pollution had stained a colleague's overalls a brilliant green. Why not use the dye to turn the whole river green on St. Patrick's Day, Bailey thought. So began the tradition.

Who was Saint Patrick?
For many, especially those in USA, Saint Patrick's Day is just a great reason to wear green and drink lots of Guiness. Saint Patrick's Day is a religious holiday in Ireland. But who was Saint Patrick? He was said to have converted people in Ireland to Christianity and helped build churches and performed many miracles during his life time. When the Irish began to move to America, it was to escape poverty and starvation when famine hit their country. However, America was not very accepting of the Irish. They were considered to be drunk, violent monkeys. Irish soldiers marched through the streets years ago on March 17th, which is also the date of Saint Patrick's death. They marched through the streets of New York City to reconnect with their Irish roots. The parade in New York City continued for many years, but the Irish people were not accepted by the country for years after. As the popularity of the holiday rose, the Irish became more accepted and those who were not Irish began to celebrate this day every year.
