3 Most Expensive Watches

It never ceases to amaze us the price of some luxury items such as expensive watches and these 3 in particular are the most expensive watches ever sold.

Price: $5,120,000

Wow...but what makes this watch worth $5.12 million? For starters, it is the most complicated watch on the planet with 33 complications.

Price: $1,250,000

Vacheron is the oldest watch manufacturer still in existence since its inception in 1755.
Over 250 years of history allow them to make world class watches that eclipse most others.

The Tour de l’Ile has tourbillon, two faces, and more complications and parts than even the Breguet Marie Antoinette (hopefully without the beheading) making it the most complicated serial wrist watch ever made.

942 Rolex Chronograph
Price: $1.17 million

This rare Rolex chronograph (only 12 made, only 8 known in existence) made in 1942 sold at auction for $1.17 million. The oversized stainless steel split seconds chronograph has a nickel-finished lever movement, 17 jewels, silver matte dials, applied pink gold Arabic and baton numerals. Other features include outer minute divisions, blue telemeter and black tachymeter scales, two subsidiary dials for constant seconds, 30 minutes register and a split seconds chronograph mechanism.

It is rumoured that these Rolex watches were made as gifts to famous race drivers and team owners during the early 1940s. The 1942 Rolex was earlier estimated to sell for between $681,818 and $1.13 million. The realised price for the Rolex chronograph, including the buyer's premium, sits at $1.17 million, which makes it the most expensive Rolex sold at an auction.
