Christmas in Stratford Upon Avon

This Christmas we stayed in Stratford-Upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare for a weekend visiting family and friends. This lovely medieval market town sits on the banks of the River Avon and at Christmas time, the town is beautifully lit up with festive lights. The upmarket town is full of boutique shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs (including the stunning Garrick Inn dating back to 1400’s).

We stayed at the lovely Mercure Stratford upon Avon Shakespeare Hotel which is a beautiful 4 star hotel situated in the heart of the historic town. The hotel was the perfect location right in the centre of town with private secure car parking at rear, a nice breakfast selection and good sized comfortable rooms. My wife loved The White Company products in the bathroom, nice touch! Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Stratford Upon Avon, whether at Christmas or any other time of the year.

Here just a few of the photographs I took of the hotel and the Christmas lights in the town.
