The power of nature is always a sight to behold, especially witnessing the sheer power of a storm. With the aftermath of hurricane Ophelia heading to Cornwall on 16th October 2017, I headed out to the north coast of Cornwall with my camera. I find experiencing a storm roaring in on a coastline exhilarating and as a photographer and nature lover, I’m completely in my element capturing it. Below are just some photographs of Storm Ophelia at Porthtowan on the north coast of Cornwall along with some of my favourite quotes about the sea.
The sea, once it casts its spell holds one in its net of wonder forever.
Jacques Cousteau
There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, there is a rapture on the lonely shore, there is society, where none intrudes, by the deep sea, and music in its roar: I love not man the less, but nature more.
Lord Byron
We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch – we are going back from whence we came.
John F. Kennedy
The earth has music for those who listen.
Shakespear
Smell the sea and feel the sky, let you soul and spirit fly.
Van Morrison
The heart of man is very much like the sea, it has its storms, it has its tides and in its depths…it has its pearls too.
Vincent Van Gogh
