Hmmmmmm - and what about the music, the one in furs must sound terrible and I suspect some of the others do too. The volume of the cabinet (or whatever it's called) looks too narrow.

Man some of them were really nice,The ones with fur would be Billy Gibbons guitars i think (ZZ top) And the one with the harp piece looks like Michael Hedges guitar that he used for the cover of comfortably numb...
In related news I went to a guitar exibition called RockChic before in the Dublin Museum which had some lovely guitars, if anyones interested you can find them on my Picasa page, most arn't as cool but there are some good ones

Explain, then, why an SG and a Les Paul, loaded with the same hardware and playing through the same amplifiers will still sound different from each other. Same goes for any other guitar. The shape and composition of the body affects the guitar's overall tone, electric or not.
I'd still like to know what they were trying to accomplish with that hinged model.

ok, music snobs, i can understand what you're saying about some of these being impossible to play and not getting the point, but that's just it. you missed the point. it's art, whether it's playable or not. whether it's functional or not. just like when people make motorcycles into works of art. do you really think anyone ever rides them? it's art. just appreciate it for what it is.

"art" is taking it a little far. They're different, unexpected.. ultimately pointless, but in person sure to make them laugh. The hinged one is impossible to play and not in the slightest clever.

Maybe two of this whole collection was worth even thinking about building. It is quite a tasteless group of guitars; ugly, pointless. The ones that are supposed to be "bad-boy" scream "I play way too much War Craft to ever be cool, and I built this useless guitar!!" The others are just stupid.

Not that anyone really cares, but the hinged guitar is for traveling. It folds in half so it's easier to take around with you.

Just wondering where George Lynch's "Skull and Bones" guitar was? That's gotta be one of the most famous carved guitars out there.
Guitars sound differently depending what they are made out of. It doesn't matter whether its an electric or an acoustic the material determines the tone. The fur one will sound absolutely terrible, I've seen the metal ones turn out alright even acoustic metal guitars. You can trust me on this, I spent 15 years working in a music store and have experience building guitars. If you have a more extensive background feel free to argue with me.

the fur ones dont sound like crap, listen to zztop, doesnt sound like crap to me. But yes, what they are made of will affect the sound, electric or not.

Some of the most stupid stuff I have ever seen. Give someone a band saw and a spray gun and they will create those abominations. Oh yeah, the gun freaks have some serious penis envy.

It's called the "Pikasso" and was made by Linda Manzer for guitarist Pat Metheny.

UHHH THE SPIDERMAN BATMAN SUPERMAN WOULD BE COOL EXCEPT FOR THE MAJOR ISSUE THAT BATMAN AND SUPERMAN ARE DC COMICS AND SPIERMAN IS MARVEL. SO ITS PRETTY FUCKKIN RETARDEDDDD.
That last one; the PRS double neck. It went for like 17000$ at a NYC shop. I don't really like it, but the inlays are cool.
Most of these are ugly, though. I'd say 95% of them are horrendous.

to all those who rip on these guitars because they might be for show instead of for playing, just think of all the throw-away guitars out there that fill guitar center, sam ash, and any music store- look at these like you would a painting, and if its playable, so much the better. personally, im sick of cheap guitars
Most of these are of really bad taste, in my personal opinion. They just look awfully cheesy.
I love guitars. I prefer the classic look I guess, I find that guitars are elegant (but that's probably because I'm a girl and because of the whole unconscious phallic theory lol).

Well yeah it would make a difference, the heavyness, the shape, and the amount of wood used would all alter the tone and sound of the guitar.

They all look terrible...apart from the lego one...but mainly they are grotesque.
They're all pretty ugly. There are some really gorgeous guitars out there, but these are just gimmicks.

Dude, I don't know what your looking at, but these are some cool-ass guitars. Id even go so far as to say that this is the best compilation of custom axes I've seen. How could you look at that M16 guitar and not think its completely Rad?
