Best apps for enjoying sport in 2016

Despite many of our favourite sports having remained largely unchanged over the decades, when it comes to watching our favourite sporting events, we’ve been spoiled for choice thanks to the arrival of some great apps. So whether you’re wanting to check out the latest Grand National betting, or just want to follow your favourite team’s progress in the Premiership, here are some great sporting apps for 2016.

Football apps

One of the most popular football apps is Forza Football. By simply selecting your favourite team and tournaments, you’ll be updated with a stream of notifications so that you keep up with the action – plus it even has a companion app for the Apple Watch.

And the problem of finding a pub that’s showing live football has been handily overcome thanks to the Corner app that also includes a handy social feature, and can even provide guides to pub gardens and Wi-Fi facilities!

Horse racing apps

With the hugely-anticipated Grand National less than two months away, you can do your research on the historic Aintree course by checking out the articles in Coral’s Grand National archive that can provide a handy insight into the form of some of the favourites at this massive racing event. And just to provide you with a helping hand for finding your way around Aintree, there’s even a handy Aintree Racecourse app to give you an extra dose of knowledge regarding this prestigious racecourse.

Cricket apps

As well as the Grand National, April also signifies the start of the cricket season. The Cricbuzz app has enjoyed a great reputation for its live cricket score updates and user-friendly display, and with a handy news feature, it can liven up even the most uninspiring game.

Or if you wanted to take a more active role, then you can test your newfound cricketing knowledge against your fellow cricket fans by using The Big Toss app which provides a fun way to try and predict events in any big cricket match.

Tennis apps

And though many of us may be mourning Andy Murray’s loss in the Australian Open, there’s plenty of tennis action to enjoy in the upcoming months. The ATP World Tour is definitely one of the most prestigious tournaments in tennis, and their app provides the perfect amount of detail for anybody wishing to follow this exciting competition.
